Council’s has implemented a Bridge Renewal Strategy that is progressively replacing or renewing aged timber bridges throughout the Armidale region, with 32 structures identified for the program.
To date, the program has been funded through the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program and the NSW Government’s Stronger Regions Fund.

Pipeclay Gully Bridge –Weirs Road
Branch Creek Bridge – Lower Creek Road
1st Culvert - Herbert Park Road
Station Creek Bridge (site locally known as House Creek) - Wongwibinda Road
Maiden Creek Bridge – Wongwibinda Road
Hiscox Creek Bridge - Puddledock Road
Abington Creek Bridge – Boorolong Road
Boundary Creek Bridge – Rockvale Road
Wollomombi River Bridge – Rockvale Road
Bridges to be replaced in early August 2020:
Site preparations get underway for the replacement of Pint Pot Bridge, on Rockvale Road.
Council will replace the ageing timber bridge with a concrete structure to improve traffic safety and remove the need for a load limit on the bridge.
Construction of a side track will begin during the last week of October and traffic will be diverted once the detour is in place.
The project is scheduled to be completed by February 2021.
Council’s Bridge Renewal Program also includes the replacement of Dumaresq Creek Bridge on Cookes Road, which is expected to start in early 2021.
