The Armidale Regional Libraries team has delivered another engaging school holiday program – offering diverse activities, opportunities for fun, and demonstrating again that libraries are more than a place to borrow books!
“Libraries are a place for the whole community,” said Kate Cefai, Armidale Regional Council’s Acting Team Leader Library.
“Not only are they a place to find a (new or familiar) favourite book, but they offer so much more!”
During April, the Libraries’ team delivered a program of school holiday activity for children and young people in our region. The two-week program was offered in Armidale and Guyra, and included a range of craft activities, lego and newspaper challenges, picture book writing, virtual reality, and a movie morning.
“UNE Discovery led two fantastic sessions, ‘Paleo Puzzles’ and ‘CSI - Crime Scene Investigation’,” said Ms Cefai.
“And the ‘Reptiles on the go: Live animal show’ gathered a crowd keen to get up close and personal with some friendly turtles, lizards and snakes!”
Ms Cefai said that the team is already thinking about the next school holiday program.
“Though no one must wait until then for library fun! The libraries in Armidale and Guyra have regular activities and opportunities for children, young people and others in the community. Find out more on the website, or just drop in.”
