Spooktacular Halloween event planned for mall

Ghouls, goblins, and gremlins will turn Armidale into a spooky town on Friday October 27, when Halloween celebrations take over the mall.

After a hugely successful Halloween celebration in 2022, which attracted more than 2000 people, he 2023 event aims to be even bigger and better to showcase the community spirit of our region.

Local families are invited to celebrate this community event which will see the mall transformed into a ghoulish space with roaming street performers, and engaging activities for kids including a Haunted House, stilt walkers, balloon artists, fairy workers, photo booths, Halloween craft, Virtual Reality haunted experience, Halloween musical storyteller and Monster Mash Disco on the main stage.

“Halloween is an opportunity for the community to come together and support local businesses in our Mall, and see children’s faces light up with the joy of trick or treating and dressing up,” said Mayor Sam Coupland.

“These community events are very important as we continue to form stronger relationships with the mall shop owners and work on revitalising the mall precinct.

“We are increasing our food vendor options, adding to our event space, to include some of Faulkner Street and the East End Mall, providing entertainment for a wide variety of people including a haunted courthouse and vibrant kids zone with the aim to elevate this year’s magical event”.

“This year’s event is proudly funded by the NSW Government – Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program.

Participating mall shops are decorating their shop windows from Monday 23rd leading into Friday’s main event.

Voting for the community’s favourite installation will be at the ARC Communication tent on the Friday during the Halloween event.

So, whether you plan on being a princess, a pumpkin or a pirate – put on your best outfit and head to the Armidale Mall on Friday October 27, between 4 and 8pm where there will be loads of lollies, delicious savoury and sweet food options, and entertainment galore.

Furthermore, there will be licensed bars both inside and out, operating at Tattersall’s Hotel and the New England Hotel.
