Mayor 1903, 1929 - 1932
A butcher, he was elected to council in 1923 and served in council until his death on 13 February 1939. Ald. and Mrs W.H. Watson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October 1936. They has been married at Dumaresq. He was re-elected vice-president of the Local Government Association executive in November 1938. A private man, notices of sympathy received by council and published in the Armidale Express, 1 March 1939 indicated 'he was a highly respected, virile and well informed man in Local Government work' as well as being 'a champion of Local Government and its extension'.
