Mayor 1906, 1907
Aged 71 years of age, he died in Sydney on 20 September 1910 whilst accompanying Mayor Ald. Curtis to attend the Municipal Annual Conference. He suffered a fall from a Sydney tram and did not recover from his injuries.
He was born in 1839 and for some years was engaged in pastoral pursuits before arriving in Armidale. In Armidale he conducted business as an auctioneer and commission agent. He was President of the Liberal League; Vice-President of the Armidale City Brand and a member of the Armidale and New England Hospital Committee.
He left a widow and a family of four; including one son, Thomas (Council Clerk) and four daughters. The funeral took place on Thursday 22 September where he was buried in the Methodist cemetery, Armidale.
