Mayor 1973 - 1974, 1978 - 1979, 1983 - 1986

A fellow of the Real Estate and Stock Institute of Australia and member of the Armidale Building Society he served on council from 1962 to 1968; 1971 to1974; 1977 to 1980 and from 1983 to 1987. He was elected deputy mayor from 1964 to 1966 and in 1972. He served as Mayor in 1973 to 1974; 1978 to 1979;1983 to 1984 and from 1985 to 1986. He was a delegate to the New England County Council from 1966 to 1968.

Married to Jeanette in December 1954, he has a family of three children. From 1963 to 1964 he was president of the Armidale Apex club, a District Governor from 1968 to 1969 and retired as a life member in 1970. He was president of the Armidale Rotary 1975 to 1976 and became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1982. He was the inaugural chairman of the Autumn Lodge Retirement Village Committee 1972 to 1982 and became a member of the Council of the Armidale College of Advanced in 1972 and served as deputy chairman until his retirement in 1984.Other community interests included membership of the Armidale Bowling Club,Ex-Services Club, Armidale Club, Theatre Club and Musical Society.
