Volunteer

The Armidale Volunteer Referral Service assists people wishing to become actively involved in their local community. Volunteering can provide you with valuable work experience, a chance to contribute to community life, the opportunity to meet new people and allow you to learn new skills.

The AVRS was established in 1998 and is auspiced by Armidale Regional Council. Funding is provided through the Department of Family and Community Services.

Find the right volunteer position for you

The Armidale Volunteer Referral Service can help you find a volunteer position that will suit your skills and interests.  If you’re undertaking training in a community field it’s also possible to help you find a volunteer role that will give you experience in the area you would like to work. To find out about the latest volunteer positions and for more information about volunteering call Jane on 6770 3838, or email avrs@armidale.nsw.gov.au

New England Volunteer Awards 2024

Volunteer-involving organizations across New England will soon be invited to nominate their volunteers for the New England Volunteer Awards in 2024.  The Awards are presented during National Volunteer Week which this year runs from 20 – 26 May and this year’s theme is “Something for Everyone”.

We hope you will consider nominating your volunteers for an award, so keep watching this page where you will be able to submit an online nomination for individual or team categories as our awards do cover “something for everyone”.

Nomination forms will again provide a link to the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award 2024 so that, should your nominees agree, the nomination can be forwarded for consideration by the Centre for Volunteering.  Last year two of our local services had nominees going forward to Sydney to the huge and prestigious event held for the State Awards – well done New England!
