Music groups and performance venues


There is a thriving classical and contemporary music scene in Armidale. The calendar is full of musical events including a biennial Bach Festival, Musica Viva, a month-long Eisteddfod program, regular performances by the Armidale Symphony Orchestra, the Armidale Choral Society as well as local and visiting musicians.

New England Conservatorium of Music

NECOM (New England Conservatorium of Music), is a thriving regional conservatorium situated in the heritage listed Old Teacher's College in Armidale and provides music education and performance programs to pre-school children, K-Year 12 school students and adults across the New England Region. Music at the University of New England

The Armidale Symphony Orchestra

The Armidale Symphony Orchestra began in 1943. It currently performs three times per year as well as joining the Armidale Choral Society for its annual March Choral weekend. To view their program and affiliated groups visit www.armsymph.org

Armidale City Band

Serving the community of Armidale for 135 years and going strong, Armidale City Band is believed to be the oldest continuously running Brass Band in New South Wales. 

Armidale Pipe Band

The Armidale Choral Society

The ACS is a non-auditioned community choir that welcomes singers of all ages. The choir gives 3 to 4 concerts a year, and often performs large works with the Armidale Symphony Orchestra.
