NAIDOC Week celebrations

The Armidale region will be buzzing with cultural activities next week as national NAIDOC Week celebrations take place across the country from 2 - 9 July.

The annual celebration recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and this year’s theme, 'For Our Elders' recognises the past and continuing efforts from elders all across the nation.

Armidale Regional Council plans to commence NAIDOC week celebrations on Monday 3 July at 10am with a flag raising ceremony on the Oorala lawns featured at the University of New England.

Guyra Preschool and Long Day Care Centre will then host their event on Tuesday 4 July 10am - 1130am, with various games and activities planned, and a BBQ lunch.

Wednesday 5 July will feature a Flag Raising ceremony and soup lunch at the Armidale Regional Council Administration building, 135 Rusden Street, commencing from 11am.

To wrap up NAIDOC celebrations, on Thursday there will be a morning tea at the Community Support Hub located at 246-248 Beardy Street Armidale, from  11am.

This year's NAIDOC march will be held in September in conjunction with A Day in the Dale celebrations, as the warmer months will allow the opportunity for more participation from our community.

Stay up to date with more information from NAIDOC week 2023 in the events section of Council’s website.
