In 2018 Council engaged consultants McGregor Coxall to deliver a master plan in consultation with the community that will enhance liveability of the city through integration of the creek and its associated ecology with urban design principles and the creation of useable, enjoyable and safe public spaces.
Stage 1 of the masterplan has now been funded with $3million secured through the NSW Government's Public Spaces Legacy Program.
The focus for Stage 1 will see the creeklands rehabilitated between Albion Park and Dumaresq Street, including the Skate Park, as identified in the Master Plan.
The work aims to provide an enhanced recreational experience and improved ecological outcomes and will include removal of woody weeks and reshaping of the foreshore, improved creekside access, a shared cycleway extension, modern amenities, furniture and BBQ facilities, shade sails and the restoration of the Spanish Mission arched wall. Additional work will also be undertaken in Civic Park such as the construction of a permanent labyrinth.

Project Status
Public Works Advisory released a tender for the design contract and a contract Environmental Landscape Designer will be selected to complete the following:
- Provide investigation and environmental reports to inform detailed design and provide a methodology for addressing soil contamination issues
- Provide detailed design plans and specifications based on the Creeklands Master Plan concept, including tender documentation for a construction contract
- Provide monthly status reports
