New parking app launched at Armidale Airport

A new environmentally friendly car parking app - that replaces older ticketed machines - has been introduced at Armidale Regional Airport and will be trialled for 12 months.

The new EasyPark app allows users to pay for parking without the need for cash or physical payment at machines. Payments can be made via linked credit or debit cards.

One of the positive features of the new app is the ability to start and stop parking sessions as needed. This flexibility ensures that users only pay for the actual time they have parked, potentially saving money and reducing overpayment issues.

“The ticketed machines at the airport are outdated and frequently malfunction due to their age and exposure to the elements,” said Armidale Regional Council Mayor Sam Coupland.

“We listened to the feedback from the public about the current parking system not being particularly easy to use. This new app should streamline the parking process at the airport.

“The new EasyPark app also aligns with Council’s Brilliant Regions Strategy – adopting and leveraging opportunities presented by data, digital technology and innovation.

“By adopting a technologically advanced parking solution, Armidale Regional Airport positions itself as a leader in innovation within the regional aviation industry.”

With its robust technology platform, EasyPark has demonstrated significant efficiency in over 4000 cities globally. The system requires minimal infrastructure, with the company providing and maintaining all necessary signage at no additional cost to the Council.

EasyPark includes functionality to help users identify available parking spots.

The app also sends reminders when the parking session is about to expire. This is helpful if passengers’ flights have been delayed or cancelled. Users can extend parking time directly from their phone - especially handy when running late returning to your vehicle.

“EasyPark is delighted to partner with Armidale Airport and provide the local community with easy to use, app-based parking,” said Eli Grossinger Binshtok, EasyPark ANZ CEO.

“More than four million people across Australia enjoy EasyPark because it gives drivers control of their session, and the ability to extend or end their parking at any time.

“With EasyPark on your mobile phone, there are also environmental benefits. Because it is a ticketless system, fewer printed paper tickets end up going to landfill.

“We look forward to continuing to support the airport and everyone who uses it.”

The current ticket machines will stop working once 3G is turned off on October 28.

Free parking for up to two hours continues to be available at the airport.
