Get tree-mendously excited for Christmas in the Mall

The Armidale Mall is set to sparkle with fabulous festive activities for the 2024 Christmas in the Mall celebrations.

This family-friendly event run by Armidale Regional Council (ARC) will be held on Friday November 29 in the mall and surrounding streets.

The much-loved event gives families the chance to celebrate Christmas with other community members, watch the lights be switched on the giant Christmas tree, indulge in some tasty treats and shop local for some festive goodies.

This year, after community consultation, Christmas in the Mall will remain in the mall with an increased footprint of East-West Mall and Moore Street.

There will be more than 70 stalls, activities for kids, a much-anticipated visit from Santa, a petting zoo, Thomas the tank engine and community performances on the stage.

With food outlets spilling onto the pavement and music filling the streets, you won’t want to miss Armidale’s favourite festive transformation.

“Council is thrilled to support Christmas in the Mall - an event that not only brings our community together but also fuels economic growth,” said ARC Mayor Sam Coupland.

"We will be creating a lively, inclusive event that’s fun for everyone. By involving community groups and showcasing the rich diversity of our region, we’re not just celebrating Christmas - we’re also highlighting the best of Armidale and surrounding areas.

“By building on the existing brand of this beloved festival, we’re drawing attention to our vibrant and thriving city of Armidale.

"Let’s embrace the spirit of the season by shopping local. This festival is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our local business owners and vendors, encouraging everyone to spend right here in our community.

"Together, let’s make Christmas in the Mall a true celebration of who we are as a community. I invite everyone to join in the festivities and support our local economy while making wonderful memories with family and friends."

Christmas in the Mall in Armidale will kick off at 4:30pm and will run until 8:30pm. The lights on the Mall’s Christmas tree will be switched on at 7:30pm. Santa’s arrival is also scheduled for 6pm.
