Council elects new Mayor and Deputy Mayor

At its ordinary meeting of Wednesday 27 November 2017 Armidale Regional Council has elected its Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the next two years.

Former Deputy Mayor of Guyra Shire Council, Councillor Simon Murray was elected Mayor.

Councillor Dorothy Robinson has been elected to the position of Deputy Mayor.

Cr Simon Murray brings with him three years experience as a Councillor of the former Guyra Shire Council and a determination to represent all residents of the Armidale Regional Council local government area.

Cr Dorothy Robinson has served the community as a Councillor on the former Armidale Dumaresq Council and is keen to encourage sustainable and healthy growth for the region.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the community as Mayor of Armidale Regional Council,” Cr Murray said.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Ian Tiley for his hard work and commitment during his term as Administrator during the challenging process of amalgamation.

“I will work together with my fellow Councillors and Council staff to ensure our whole community has a voice in determining the future of our region.”
