Sewer relining

The Sewer Main Relining is in the second year of a three-year contract with Interflow Pty Ltd and the works consist of installing a liner (new pipe) inside the host or existing pipe between Sewer Manholes. From CCTV footage of the sewer mains we can determine the condition of the pipe and target the sections that require upgrading. This method involves very minimal digging only requiring some point repairs to allow the liner to be installed. Relining is non-invasive and avoids large restorations and disruptions to the sewer system. They will be replacing approx 6km of Sewer main at various locations throughout Armidale and selected locations in Guyra. Interflow Pty Ltd is currently carrying out final inspections of work completed during the 2019/20 financial year. The third year of the three year contract will commence in July 2020.

Essential work is being carried out on four Council sewer vents within Armidale. 28 sewer vents were inspected in early March 2016 and a further 21 in late September 2017. As a result Council replaced six vents in the 2016-17 financial year and another five in January 2018. The works to replace four more of the vents includes the removal of all vegetation around the sewer vent, demolition of the existing vent and construction of a new vent. A notification letter has been sent to occupants and owners of properties in the vicinity.

An Interflow cleaning crew has commenced cleaning of sewer mains identified for the next round of relining in Armidale and Guyra, which is expected to take place in late June early July. Effected residents will be notified prior to commencing works.
