Mayor 1870
He married Elizabeth Scholes on 31 March 1862 in St. Peters Church, Armidale and in April 1866 he advertised his services as a certified licensed surveyor.
Elected to council in 1869, he died as mayor in Sydney on Sunday 4 September 1870. The funeral left his late residence, the Post Office Hotel in York Street for the Necropolis and a former Armidale minister performed the funeral service in Sydney.
