Aged 80 years, William Cyril Higinbotham died on 28 February 1940 at his residence at McMahon's Point, North Sydney; the son of William Howard and Selina Higinbotham. The Armidale Express, 4 March 1940 commented, the 'deceased was prominent in the public life of Armidale some years ago, and was a member of the City Council for some time'.
