Aged 70 years, he passed away at his residence in Barney Street on 26 October 1923 after a period of prolonged illness. Born in Armidale the son of Thimas Bryan and Margaret Fitzgerald, he was connected with numerous Armidale institutions. His association with the Jockey Club, of which he was secretary, dated back to 1870. He also helped inaugurate the hospital day at the local race meeting. An alderman for 24 years, he was also president of the Irish National Association, treasurer of the P. and A. Society, a member of the local Land Board and a trustee of the School of Arts and racecourse. He was survived by his mother and two daughters.
