Mayor 1979 - 1983
Claude Cainero served as alderman from 1974 to 1983 and deputy mayor from 1976 to 1979. He became mayor in September 1979 and served until 1983. He was a delegate to the New England (Noxious Plants) County Council in 1978. He became Chairman of the N.S.W. Country Mayor's Association in 1983 and was a founder member of Armidale Central Rotary Club in that same year. A qualified television technician, he came to Armidale in 1964 to open his own electronic business but gave up the business to became a grazier.
