Aboriginal Memorial opened today during NAIDOC week

A memorial recognising unmarked Aboriginal graves at the Armidale Cemetery offically opened today at a special event during NAIDOC Week.

The project received $20,000 funding through Council’s Stronger Communities Grants program and $1000 from ANTaR (Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation) Armidale.

This support enabled the Gayinyaga Aboriginal Community Consultative Committee to commission the artists Brian Irving, Bevan Quinlan and Derek Moran and to contract Geoff Bishop and Armidale Concrete.
