Career kick starts - Employment opportunities abound

Armidale Regional Council is committed to providing learning opportunities to a diverse range of people, including local youth. 

There are many areas the Council can offer to students to learn, such as: customer service; civil construction; planning and development; assets; finance; information technology; communications; event planning; parks and gardens; landfill; water and sewer. 

Every year, Council seeks students entering Years 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in:

  • Professional scholarships in management, engineering, planning and development, and finance;
  • School-based traineeships in business administration, fabrication, horticulture, mechanical, and water operations; or
  • Full traineeships and apprenticeships in civil construction, electro technology, fabrication, finance, mechanical, stores, and welding.

Work experience at Council

Council aims to provide opportunities to assist students gain job related skills and knowledge through work experience placements for people undertaking educational training either at school, TAFE or university.

The number of work experience placements available depends on the ability of the work area to provide effective on the job work experience at a time suitable to both the department and the student.
